[CANCELLED] Pukhtun Festival
About the Event
-------------------------IMPORTANT------------------------- In light of the tragic event that took place on the 16th of December resulting in the loss of innocent lives in Peshawar, we have decided to cancel the Pukhtun Festival, as it is a time for mourning this loss of innocent lives, rather than celebration. We sincerely regret any inconvenience, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Those of you who have purchased tickets for the event can get a refund by visiting Kuch Khaas during our working hours (11 am - 7 pm Mondays - Fridays; 12 pm - 7 pm Saturdays) and returning the tickets. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Kuch Khaas, in collaboration with the Institute for the Preservation of Arts and Culture (IPAC) and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) Afghanistan, is organising a festival Celebrating Pukhtun Culture in Pakistan & Afghanistan. This event will celebrate the multicultural heritage of Pakistan, focusing on the resilience of the culture and the people of the Pukhtun community who have withstood decades of unrest. This festival is being jointly organised by Kuch Khaas, Pakistan and AKTC, Afghanistan as Pukhtuns in Afghanistan and Pakistan share a common heritage and belief that they must come together on joint platforms to preserve their culture and to work towards peace between the people of both countries. The festival also celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of Ghani Khan, a great Pukhtun poet and thinker of the 20th century. The three-day festival in December 2014 will include modern and traditional Pukhto music, film screenings, dances, traditional foods, crafts, arts and panel discussions on key challenges faced by Pukhtun culture today. It will be a platform for cultural and artistic performance and expression - aimed not only at preserving Pukhtun heritage but also at harmonising the traditional with the modern. Join us to take part in this effort to help grow consciousness of the importance of keeping our cultural heritage alive and pass on the same message to the coming generations.
